Arts and Crafts 4th Grade

Arts and Crafts 4th GradeWe were inspired by some Autumn pictures before we started to create our own works. Children love using liquid paints but above all, they enjoy blowing paint with straws.

Pupils' works

This end of January, we decided to create our own Arts and Crafts boxes. We know it was a little annoying to look for them, that's why we would like to thank parents for that job.
First, we covered the boxes with small pieces of newspapers and stick them. Then, we designed a colourful sign. At the same time, children were working the collage technique, but with a 3D object.

The 30th of January, we celebrate the Peace Day. From this subject, we wanted to contribute with an original poster made of with different textures and techniques. Finally, we stuck the works on the windows, next to the main door.

MASKS
4th AAt Carnival, we decided to create our own masks using white glue and tissue paper. It was a project very interesting for the students because they had to work with mixed media. We used a balloon in which we stuck some plasticine with the facial features. Finally, we stuck some tissue paper bands to the balloon in order to get a hard mask.

CLAY HEDGEHOGS
Children love to make things out of clay, so this time we decided to make a hedgehog pencil holder.
We used white self-hardening clay. As it was too crumbly, we added some water to make it suitable for modelling. We used our hands to make a semisphere then pressed one end to make the head. We also used thicker pencils to poke the holes. The clay shrinks a little when it dries, so it’s a good idea to make larger holes. Then we left the hedgehog to dry in the classroom for one week. Finally, we colour the hedgehog pencil holders with tempera paints.

BOOKMARKS

We had collaborated in an ONG project which is called "Save the Children". We had to design our own bookmarks to sell them later to our families and friends. All the money collected will be sent to this organisation to help Ethiopian children.
